  • A heartfelt drone

This rich pad sound retains its unique woody yawn even as you turn down the filter cutoff. I think it shines brightest with the filter all the way up; the bow emotively varies in pressure and speed, and holding down a chord produces a rolling boil of harmonics. The programming here is a work of real efficiency: only three samples and under 400 kB of RAM usage. No-brainer download.

  • Frozen, dusty, serene

Transportive. An utterly faithful translation of the bells' organic qualities. Uncommonly mellow, especially with wool mallets, but high velocities reveal a metallic jangle -- do the bells have a clapper? There's room hiss, especially audible with chords, which I guess I'm supposed to say is a negative, but I love its dusty texture. Thank you for sharing these instruments!

  • Small piano, big personality

Few sampled pianos are so expressive. This one is perfectly content to be delicate, but eagerly responds when its keys are slammed. Its bell-like tone and unbashful release sounds -- adjustable, of course -- yield surprising believability. And all under a half-GB? Wonderful stuff.

  • Vastness in a can

This pad strikes a brilliant balance between textural interest -- like the wonderfully reserved tape hiss behind each note -- and restrained simplicity. It quickly became a go-to, and its windy upper register has yet to fail when I need to add depth to a mix.

  • A rustic panorama

Immediately useful and texturally rich. The pads are ghostly and vast -- the swarming, aleatoric "Will O' The Wisps" pad is jaw-dropping -- but the highly playable solo patches steal the show. Their keyswitched ornaments add human personality, but with the pedal-activated legato, even performed grace notes and trills become shockingly believable.

A sincere thank you for providing this beautiful collection for no cost. The page desperately needs an audio demo so more people are compelled to try it out.
