Whirly Tube Choir Pad

A pad created from whirly-tubes.

ByJoshua Meltzer

The story

I recorded some plastic whirly tube thingys ( that is their technical name right?) I recorded several passes in different pitches and speeds. I normalized them and filtered them a bunch . Then I mapped them in to Kontakt and tuned them up. I added some Long “Church “ verb and it has a nice choir like effect. Maybe I’ll make a hybrid choir with this and my “Cricket Choir”! Cheers!

Reviews

  • Nicely captured piccolo-like sound choir

The sound immediately reminded me of one of my favorites, "Wicker People and Piccolo" from the Spitfire Earth Library : The sound seems to be in the middle of the flute and piccolo, and sounds like the choir. I personally love the sound of this tube choir!

  • Haunting Pads

What a fun sample library this is! The gently pulsing ghostly sound fits nicely in many musical situations, and this seems like a great instrument to sample since they're both unwieldy and impractical to use in a studio to try to actually track live on a project. Very nicely done!

  • Ghostly feels!

In typical Joshua fashion, the sound quality is amazing, but this time, the character of the instrument is something else! It really sounds like that retro-stereotypical ghost sound, and I think it's lovely! I find very interesting to play single notes and messing with the pitch-bend a little bit, but that's definitely not the only way to use it. Unfortunately you won't find any dynamics or settings.
