Toy Glockenspiel

Two mono mic positions on a toy glock to add sparkle to your mix

ByConner

The story

This is a toddlers toy glockenspiel that I think I bought from a garage-sale hosted at my brothers house. (I’m not sure if it was actually his though)

It’s got close and far (mono, sorry) mic positions, and I think I tuned it slightly to center A440. Theres a fair bit of velocity control here and I’ve extended the key range, but it really shines in one of the octaves best.

When I use it, I often find it best acts to accentuate other instruments in arrangement and add some extra sparkle or glitter.

  • Nicely sampled another toy instrument

I am having fun with this toy series : such a cute sound of toy instrument. The sound is nice, and very easy to play.

  • A teeny tiny dry glockenspiel

If you are a fan implementing toy instruments in your compositions, this will be a very nice addition for you. If you forget about the very stretched low register, this little toy is sampled perfectly. It's dynamic, it has no noises, it's panned properly, and it features two mics, Close and Room. I personally don't like the Room one, but you can judge for yourself. The instrument is very dry in general, but that's not really bad since it leaves you room to do whatever you want with it. Very nice!

  • Surprisingly large range...

Being stretched over almost five octaves was surprising to me, but I guess it doesn't hurt. My only suggestion is to narrow the stereo range so that the samples don't go so far to each side based on the range.
