Flow-Fi

Lo-fi sounds from Soviet made synths

ByArt

The story

I love the texture of down pitched samples. To get grainy lofi textures i sampled only the C6 or C7 keys of my big collection of Soviet made synths. Flow-Fi is a library for Dreamy Lo-fi sound.

  • It flows very damn well!

First, I need to give it up for the name, because it's just perfect! At first I thought this would be mostly a Lo-Fi instrument but it can definitely do more than that. You will find 13 patches available, and every one of thme differs from little to A LOT.

In addition, you will have full control over pretty much everything. If you are not familiar with the Photosynthesis engine, let me tell you that you will find all kinds of envelope settings, along with some filter and effect options.

There is also a rhythmic engine which I am not really a fan of. It will work only if you are very precise or if you end up quantizing your midi notes, because it won't sync with every note at a specific starting point, therefore you may create some chaos.

I'd also love if the UI could be slightly more customized.

  • A tonne of great content that will fulfil your new-wave cravings.

With a GUI this good, 13 brilliant, unique patches and a boat load of inspiration, this library is one of those PB entries that competes with the professional libraries out there. I dialled in a whole range of great synth patches with this, and found it really suits my love for 80s New Wave. The use of the Photosynthesis engine was a great touch and my personal favourite patch has to be 'Down Pitch'. Great stuff!

  • Lots of Great Sounds!

There are 13 great sounds. Some are a bit on the noisy side, but one is left to guess that might have been intentional. They're all very playable and work great in the context of a mix. The GUI is fabulous.
