Octave Feedback

A 2003 Gibson SG feeding back through a Bad Cat Cougar amp

The story

Octave feedback was recorded with my 2003 Gibson SG running through my Bad Cat Cougar amp.
Recording feedback was a go-to method that I would use on a lot of my tracks. I wanted to be able to add this texture even when I didn’t have the capabilities the means to record loud amplifiers. Once turning it into a sampled instrument I realized it had much more capabilities than I first intended.

  • a special (after)touch

i am using this samples as aftertouch controllable feedback in a Waldorf iridium. they are great to give the simplest sounds an surprising touch.
so a can't rate the gui.

  • Texture Toolkit must-have

You probably won't write compositions around this instrument, but I find it so so useful for adding body/texture. I only recently downloaded this but I've already used it in a bunch of projects. No frills, just a handful of good steady feedback tones. I like that there's not too much processing, so you can treat it in whatever way suits the project. Go-to when I want a drone or texture that doesn't sound too synthy/electronic.

  • I didn't know I need this!

Even though this is a very barebones patch, that features only just one simple concept, I never thought of how much chilling it can be, and now I need it! Oh wait, I got it. Thanks! I'd love it if there was some kind of personalization, perhaps the speed of the feedback, or the character or texture of it, maybe depending on the velocity or added as a modwheel crossfade. Now that would be simply perfect.
